We're Home

We bought a house! Not only a house, our very first house as a family. After renting for years, we finally decided it was time to bite the bullet and purchase something we could plant roots in as a family.

Before Cali was born Nick and I were renting out a one bedroom apartment. Cali came eventually, and we had to decide what to do next. We obviously couldn’t share a room with her forever. Right before she turned one, we moved (rented) out a two bedroom two bathroom mobile home.

That worked out fine, but we weren’t happy. There was no backyard for the kids to play in, not really even a front yard for that matter. There were always problems, and things falling apart. It just wasn’t for us. We were there two years before we really started to look for something more permanent and right for our family.

Heres there the fun begins. After downloading all of the possible home searching apps on our phones - we looked, and looked, and looked, and looked every day. We got in touch with a realtor (shout out to Jeff- he was awesome and we highly recommend him to anyone in need of a home) and applied for a loan. When we got pre-approved we started looking at houses in real life.

Something I didn’t expect to happen was that none of the houses we went to go see ever really looked like they did in their pictures. Nothing stood out to us either, or they sold entirely too fast before we even had time to process what we had just looked at (thank you sellers market).

About a month later, we saw a listing for this beautiful brick cape cod. I texted Jeff that day and asked if we could go look. Of course we could- and did. This was the first home that actually DID in fact look like the pictures on the listing. We fell in love and decided right then and there to put an offer on it. Jeff texted us a couple hours later and said there were 4 other offers on the home and a couple were even higher than ours. At that point we knew our chances were just as good as any others, and I didn’t get my hopes up.

They were going to pick their “winner” by the following day. Jeff called us the next day and updated us… THEY HAD EXCEPTED OUR OFFER!!

Long story short, a couple weeks later we closed in on our cape cod, and are now looking forward to turning this house into OUR home. We hope you enjoy the journey with us.
